The integration of palliative
care into the care of people with serious illnesses and
injuries has been associated with an array of improved
outcomes for patients and their family members. Incorporating
palliative care into the critical care context is a relatively
nascent approach but one that has been shown to contribute to
better outcomes for patients who require critical care. This
presentation will review the evolving role of palliative care in
the ICU.
